YEAR 5/6 EXCURSION UPDATE

Tuesday 30 March 2021

Re: Yr 5/6 Excursion to Sydney

Dear Parents,

We were hoping to make final preparations for the Year 5/6 excursion in September. However, we have decided to withdraw from the excursion and informed the students just last week.

Although there are no restrictions on travel to Sydney we deemed that Sydney is still open to becoming a Covid ‘hotspot’ and it presents a high risk for our students. The students took it pretty well and understand that staying in a motel in Sydney’s CBD may be something we do down the track in a COVID ‘free’ year.

We will organise another Year 5/6 overnight excursion for Term 4 and will let parents know as soon as possible. The destination will be closer to home.

Kind Regards

Regards,
Mrs Jannine Richards                            Maddison Crozier

NAPLAM 2021

Tuesday 30 March 2021

RE: Naplan 2021

Dear Parents of Year 3 and Year 5 Students,

NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy – important skills that each child needs to succeed in school and life. The NAPLAN tests are designed to help us make sure students are on track with their literacy and numeracy development.

All students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 across Australia participate in NAPLAN tests for reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

Last Thursday students in Year 3 and Year 5, participated in NAPLAN Practice Tests, which were designed to give students, teachers and systems an opportunity to practice administering and participating in the online testing environment. No results are recorded from the practice tests.

Further practice will be conducted in classrooms to familiarise students with the testing environment. If you have any questions about NAPLAN Online, please contact your child’s teacher, Ms Crozier or Ms Richards.

The test dates for Naplan next term are between:

Tuesday 11 May and Thursday 20 May.

Please note these dates in your calendar. Apart from illness, all students in Year 3 and 5 are to be at school between those dates so they can complete the required tests. Individual results for NAPLAN will be forwarded to parents by the end of Term 3.

 Kind Regards

Regards,
Maddison Crozier                                       Mrs Jannine Richards
NAPLAN Coordinator                               Principal
