Dear Parents,

Yesterday we reflected on All Souls day. On this day Christians around the world honour those who have gone before us and reflect on the time we had with them. We share fond memories, recall their faces and pray  Grant to them eternal rest, Amen.

The sad news of Owen Fayle’s tragic passing was also solemnly observed yesterday and Year 4/5/6 attended All Soul’s Mass. We send our thoughts and prayers to Letishia, Emily and Logan who are at home together at this sad time. Staff and students will miss seeing Owen at the gate at pick up time and his cheerful banter as he walked Emily and Logan home. Rest in Peace Owen.

 Kindergarten Transition 2021

Transition is every Wednesday during November. We are excited to be welcoming our three ‘newbies’-Scarlett, Kayden and Maya to big school. Ms Buckmaster will be looking after them assisted by Ms Brown and Ms Dobbie over the next four weeks.

 School Fees Update for 2021

Community Council approved the school fee structure for 2021 last week. Increases in tuition fees (3%) and local levies (2%) keep school fees in line with inflation. Overall the increase per week per child is $2.15. Please refer to the attached schedule for 2021 and do not hesitate to speak with Ms Marsh or myself if you have any queries.

Each November, the Church celebrates two feast days, which are related to each other. All Saints’ Day is a solemnity celebrated on November 1st. On this day we celebrate the great Communion of Saints, which includes those holy men and women who have passed before us but have not been canonized. All Souls’ Day is celebrated on November 2nd and is a day to remember and pray for all those who have died.

Thank you for sending in names of deceased members of your families.  They have been added to our memory wall for November.

It is not too late if you have forgotten to send them in.

Our Book Fair starts tomorrow.

The Fair runs from Wednesday 4th to Wednesday 11th 2020.

Students will bring home a wish list. If parents would like to purchase any books they can send in cash or book a time to come in and pay by Eftpos.

As we have the excitement of the Melbourne Cup today, 2/3 have continued with their work on fractions with a Melbourne Cup theme. We split the whole collection of 24 horses into halves, quarters and eighths, finding out how many horses into each part. 

We then split the jockey silks into quarters or eighths and decorated with the jockeys colours. We wonder which horses will win...?

2/3 enjoyed moving in maths. Using our sporting equipment to practise maths strategies.

Here they are practising drawing arrays and "groups of" for multiplication and division problems, finding the answer and runningto that cone. Lots of fun!

Last Friday 4/5/6 enjoyed cooking and eating NASI GORENG which is an Indonesian Fried Rice.

Last week 4/5/6,  K/1 and staff had some time visiting the new Batlow library.

Everyone enjoyed having a look around the new facilities and 4/5/6 enjoyed reading with their K/1 buddies.

Year 2/3 are using Cuisenaire Rods to learn about fractions. We are able to find halves, quarters and thirds.

2/3 have been learning about sustainability and how to leave a small footprint on our environment. Here students were sorting rubbish into the correct bins and learning how to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Year 2/3 are doing 'number talks' in Maths. Students write down all the facts they know about the number of the day and different ways to represent that number with symbols, drawings and words.
