Dear Parents,
Students participated in Crazy Sock day today! Thank you to our wonderful students, and you too, for getting involved and supporting Catholic Missions with this simple gesture. Our ‘crazy socks’ added a bit of colour to our playground, and to the church as well, as we marked the day with a liturgy.
This Thursday is school photograph day. All students are to be in full summer uniform and bring along their best smiles. If all forms can be returned to the office by Thursday morning please.
Last week St Mary’s had registration and a panel from Catholic Education reviewed our documentation for compliance purposes. We did very well and the panel will now prepare a report of commendations and recommendations to support us in delivering education services to the Batlow community.
On a final note can I please remind parents to inform us of any student absences as soon as possible. Our recent registration process highlighted the following points:
- Class rolls are a legal document and scrutinised by the NSW government.
- Parents are responsible for their child’s regular attendance.
- Parents wishing to take their students out of school for any extended leave must apply to the Principal ahead of time and seek approval. A certificate will then be issued.
- Longer periods of leave are to be approved by the Education minister.
- Please follow the link to the policy for your reference.
- CE Attendance at School Policy
Have a lovely week everyone.

World Mission Sunday fell on Sunday 18th October. It was instituted by Pope Pius Xl in 1926, the annual day and month encourages prayers, cooperation and help for missions as well as reminding Christians about the fundamental missionary character of the Church and of every baptised person.
The theme of this years observance is Here am I, send me (Is 6:8)
We will celebrate World Mission Month with Crazy Sock Day and a school liturgy. A total of $73 was raised for Catholic Missions. This is a tremendous effort from our small school. We also raised $70 last term at our Footy Colours Day. It's lovely to know that even in a small way our school supports worthwhile causes.
THIS SUNDAY is Children's Liturgy at 8.30am in St Mary's Church. It would be lovely for children to participate in the Readings, Prayer of The Faithful, Offertry etc. Please let Mrs Richards know if your children will attend, so jobs can be allocated.
Love to see you there.
Term 4 School Fees were emailed last week. If you did not receive your statement please call the office.
Please ensure that all fees are paid before week 6, as per St Mary's School Fee Policy.
In Year 4/5/6 this week we have been completing book reviews on books that we read over the holidays! Students were able to share their thoughts and opinions about their chosen books and persuade members of the class to read the books reviewed. Students then had to redesign the covers of their favourite books which was an exciting way to finish off the reviews.

Next Tuesday CATRIONA & JADE will be our radio announcers.
Please tune in to FM96.3 each Tuesday at 1.45pm
SCHOOL BANKING IS EVERY WEDNESDAY
Please drop your books in the note box by Wednesday morning.
2/3 are practising our knowledge of Whole Number in this warm-up game. We play warm up games like this each Maths lesson to reinforce number concepts before launching into new learning.
In Maths this week, Year 4/5/6 we are looking at Mass and talking about the Mass of our lunch boxes. We explored the average of each person’s lunch box and were able to calculate the difference between each other’s lunch boxes.
