Dear Parents and Carers,

Each class has collaborated on a matrix of classroom expectations in line with our new school rules: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful, and Be a Learner. Our School Wide Positive Behaviour relies on the regular restatement of the expected behaviours and, most importantly, teaching the behaviours through class discussions and role play opportunities. By establishing clear understanding of expectations we create a stable and predictable environment for all students. Please see attached to this newsletter the behaviour matrixes for each class for your reference.

Congratulations to Daniel Korn and Amara Hockey who have been recognised by the Country Women's Association for their entries in the country of study project for 2019, Papua New Guinea. Ms Tina Billing presented our two students with certificates last week from the Hume group of CWA Branches. Their entries will now be forwarded to NSW state level for consideration. Well done Daniel and Amara!

Our dance and gymnastics programs are underway for the term. Our presenters Taylor (Footsteps) and Ben (Little Champions Gymnastics) are keen and capable leaders and we value their expertise. Thank you for adjusting sport uniform days to Mondays and Wednesdays. 

This week students from Yr 2-6 will be participating in the Cricket Blast Cup at the Batlow Showgrounds. Students will need to wear sports uniform once again on the day. Could parents please refer to the permission note emailed today for further details. 

I will be attending Instructional Leader and Principal Meetings in Canberra from Wednesday to Friday this week. Ms Saunderson will be in charge in my absence.

A very busy day was had last Thursday! Thank you to the K/1 children for their participation at our Mission Mass and the whole school for their reverence during our interactive Mission Rosary.

The Seasons for Growth  program began last Thursday and will continue this week from 3:30 pm.  If you have any enquiries about the program please contact me at the school.  We will begin a new one sometime in 2020.

Seasons for Growth programs use a person centred learning approach. This approach doesn't use specific group processes or position the facilitator (Companion) as the expert, but instead aims to create an environment where participants become aware of their own strengths and resources, and decide on their own solutions. Companions model empathy, understanding and acceptance in the group in order to empower participants to be true partners in learning.

The beginning of November in the Christian tradition is the celebration of All Saints Day on November 1^st and All Soul Day on November 2^nd. Through our Whole School Prayer on Thursday morning the children will learn that becoming a saint in the early centuries was a goal of many.  Peoples  lives changed as they became ‘Christ’s friend.’

We will remember throughout November those who have passed.  There will be a memory space at the entrance to the school building where names will be placed.  Could you please send names of loved ones who you would like to be remembered to the school via email by Wednesday afternoon; the children will place the names on a heart shaped wreath during prayer on Thursday.

Congratulations to Daniel and Amara who were awarded first place certificates on Friday from Batlow CWA rep Mrs Tina Billings. Daniel for a student travel journal and Amara for a student postcard.

These students were chosen by the Hume group in their age groups after entering the Batlow competition earlier this year.

Birthday wishes this week go to Liam W who turns 10 30th October. Have a great day.

Crunch and Sip is for students to 'refuel' on vegetables, salad and fruit and 'rehydrate' with water. Students who are not hungry and are well hydrated perform better in the classroom, show increased concentration, and are less likely to be irritable and disruptive.

SPORT UNIFORM is to be worn MONDAY & WEDNESDAY this term.

JOGGERS & WHITE SOCKS to be worn by ALL students

Full uniform is to be worn TUESDAY, THURSDAY & FRIDAY.

This is BLACK SHOES for ALL students, short white socks for GIRLS & short grey socks for BOYS.

The uniform shop has stock available and we also have some good quality seconds for a donation.

Students in years 2/3/4/5/6 will attend a cricket day THIS FRIDAY at the Batlow oval. Students will walk to the showground leaving at 9.00am and returning by school pick up.

Please wear SPORTS UNIFORM INCLUDING SCHOOL HAT and take recess, lunch,plenty of water and SUNSCREEN.

Students are enjoying every minute of their Footsteps program. Footsteps will continue every Monday over the next 5 weeks.

The students have started their Gymnastics program in Term 4. Gymnastics will be on every Wednesday for the next 7 weeks.

The Everything Apple stall made $250.00. Thank you to Bev Sullivan for the preparation and those parents and staff members who helped on the day.

Australian Government Mobile Service Centres travel extensively throughout rural and regional Australia. A Mobile Service Centre will be visiting the Batlow area soon.

Staff from the Department of Human Services travel with the Mobile Service Centres and can assist people with Centrelink and Medicare payments and services. Information about Department of Veterans’ Affairs programs and support services for veterans and their families is also available.

 Our Mobile Service Centres have disabled access and customer Wi-Fi to assist in creating myGov accounts and accessing online services.

Service NSW is increasing access to NSW Government transactions and services in your community through our new Mobile Service Centres. 

Our dedicated team on the custom-fitted Mobile Service Centres will support your community across a broad range of services including:

• Renewing a driver licence, photo card or vehicle registration

• Sitting a driver knowledge test

• Applying for a Working with Children Check

• Applying for birth, death and marriage certificates

• Accessing more than 70 government rebates and savings including drought support through the Cost of Living service.

Mobile Service Centres will accept payment by credit and debit card or cheque.

The Mobile Service Centre will be visiting Batlow on 7 November 2019 and returning to your community every eight to nine weeks. Please check service.nsw.gov.au/msc for the latest information on locations and opening hours.

Students are supervised by a teacher at recess and lunch times. Every effort is made to ensure children eat their food. We try:-

• encouraging eating
• delay playtime

We ask that food is taken home so that parents know exactly what has been consumed over the day.
