Hello Parents and Carers,
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2019 Satisfaction Survey that was forwarded to email addresses earlier this term. We have received valuable information on which to reflect and action upon. Results overwhelmingly show that staff, parents and students are positive about many aspects of school life at St Mary’s. Thank you for affirming the work that we are doing with your children, and our students. Our partnership is the crucial link in working towards a culture of effective student learning. If the survey raised some concerns for you please know that we are happy to discuss them with you. Just make an appointment via the front office, or email, to guarantee your time.
Last week, our students enjoyed many activities. Our ski trip enjoyed perfect alpine weather with Ms Buckmaster and many parents and students. Our Year 3 and 4 girls had a new venture into league tag with Ms Clark and Ms Ambrose as part of Trent Barret Shield in Gundagai. Their last game was a winning bonanza! Well done girls on your energy and enthusiasm. Last Thursday, eight of our students represented St Mary’s as part of our ‘Speak Off” with St Joseph’s Primary School, Adelong. Our students were well prepared and spoke with growing confidence. They did us proud, however, St Joseph’s swept the pool and their students will progress to the next level, Western Region. We wish them all the best.
As we move into Week 7 our focus turns to Numeracy and effective strategies to use within our lessons. Matt Sexton, our Numeracy Consultant will be with us once again this Thursday working with students and teachers, leading our staff meeting as well.
Finally, Ms Saunderson and myself travelled to Canberra to be part of the Key Personnel Day last Friday. It was a wonderful opportunity to be part of our archdiocese and listen to Archbishop Christopher Prowse address all in attendance. He inspired us all to continue the great work we are doing with the youth in our schools as we develop hearts and minds in the name of Jesus Christ.
Have a lovely week everyone, and I hope to see many of you at the Trivia Night this Saturday.
Jannine
Thank you to Emily, Logan, Daniel, Thomas, EJ and James for your assistance at Mass on Sunday. Thank you also to their parents, Mrs. Murray and Miss Buckmaster.
It was a beautiful Mass to celebrate Fathers Day.
'The sun came up...a new day dawned,
We sang like never before and worshipped His Holy name.'
10 000 Reasons Matt Redmond
We look forward with excitement to our Feast Day Celebrations next Monday!
St Mary's Feast Day is this Sunday, 8th September. We will celebrate St Mary's birthday with a BBQ lunch on Monday 9 September. School will provide a sausage sizzle and ice-creams. We would love a parent or two to help cook the snags on our BBQ. Please let us know if you're available to cook by clicking on the link below, and ordering sausages.
After lunch, we will run some fun activities with the students to celebrate the hope, joy and wonder of being at school and the devotion of St Mary to help nurture our friendships. A webform was sent out yesterday so we know numbers for catering and if you can help. If you have not already submitted your order or ability to help out on the day, please do so before Thursday.
Our Year 3 and 4 girls had a new venture into league tag with Ms Clark and Ms Ambrose as part of Trent Barret Shield in Gundagai. They had a win in their last game. Well done girls on your energy and enthusiasm.
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a project of Samaritan’s Purse. It partners with local churches in developing nations to reach out to children by providing gift-filled shoeboxes and bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ. St Mary’s will again help reach more children with gift-filled shoeboxes for distribution to children in the developing world.
If you would like to participate please call into the office to get a box.

Our tissue supply is running very low.
We ask that each family please send in a box of tissues as we have used lots over the past months with all the coughs and colds that have been about.
Please be aware that students will require their school hats from now on. The "No Hat, No Play" policy will take effect from the beginning of Term 4.
Please start reminding your children and we will do the same over the next 4 weeks.
Two necklaces were found on the playground. If you own them or know who does, they can be collected from the office.
Year 2/3/4 used the 'diamond nine' strategy to discuss effective book covers. Students were to use their speaking and listening skills to work collaboratively and make decisions.
