- THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Hello Parents and Carers,
This Thursday, Year 5/6 will present Mass at 12 noon. The theme of the Mass is “We are the Shepherds of the Church’. All parents and friends in our community are most welcome to attend this celebration of the God’s Word. Following Mass, soup will be served for any students and parent/community members who would like to sample my yummy pumpkin soup or Ms Dobbie's (equally as yummy) chicken and corn soup. Parents may also like to take the opportunity to have a guided tour of our new classroom arrangement and the library. We hope to see you there.
This Friday, seventeen St Mary's students are attending the Western Region Athletics Carnival in Cootamundra. We wish all competitors the best of luck to do their personal best in their event/s on the day. Thank you to all the parents who are transporting students to and from Cootamundra. Ms Buckmaster and Ms Clark are the teacher in charge on the day.
Students will take home their Semester One Report this Friday. Whilst the report is addressed to parents, many parents share the report with their child/ren as a time to celebrate achievements and effort. When reading the reports over the weekend I was so very pleased with student academic progress and the beautiful comments in regard to their manners and kindness to their friends. For the students who are attending the athletics carnival on Friday, the report will be forwarded to siblings to take home or kept safely until Monday.
Next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, each student will lead a Three Way Conference between their parent/s, the class teacher and themselves. The purpose of the conference is to set goals for future learning through a collaborative conversation. These goals will be typed and placed on their desk through Semester Two. Each student has ten minutes to lead the conference. It is an empowering opportunity and students become very good at leading this meeting over their time at St Mary's. Please select your interview time via the email sent recently.
Have a lovely week everyone.

Last Sunday was the feast of Corpus Christi (Body and Blood of Christ). It is often the Sunday that parishes celebrate with children receiving their First Communion.
We will remember in our prayers the children from St. Joseph's Adelong who will receive their First Communion this coming weekend.
While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing and said, "Take it; this is my body" then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them. He said "This is my blood...it will be shed for many."
Year 5/6 celebrate with their class Mass this Thursday. You are invited to join us for Mass then to have lunch of hot soup and bread afterwards.
Three Way Conferences will take place next Tuesday July 2 and Wednesday July 3rd. This is a valuable opportunity for your child to meet with their teacher and parent/s and talk about their learning. Book your interview time as soon as possible.
This Wednesday Kinder and Year 1 will visit our friends at Daycare. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our Batlow Community.
Our school and parish community are invited to join us for our 5/6 Mass this Thursday 27th June at 12.00 noon. We will be serving pumpkin and chicken and corn soups with some crunchy bread for lunch after Mass.

Meet Roger Refund.
He enjoys our 10c recyclable items like water bottles, poppers (juice boxes) and some milk cartons.
Once full, Miss Buckmaster will take the items to Tumut Woolworths' return and earn system. All monies collected from our recycling will go towards a bigger and better composting system.
Last week we discovered our milk cartons from the bakery were only able to be refunded in South Australia and Northern Territory. They will now take refuge in Ranger Recycling who you shall officially meet next week.
We are excited to be taking part in the 2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn program. During the previous campaign, we were able to purchase some great resources with the points we earned, thanks to you.
Earn and Learn finishes today, June 25th 2019, but there is still time to get your stickers back here to school or you can drop them into your local Woolworths collection box. The more points we earn, the more we can redeem from a choice of over 10,000 educational resources including Mathematics and English resources, art & crafts materials and much, much more! We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful program.
