Dear Parents and Carers,
This morning students attended St Mary’s Church for Whole School Prayer. This is a 15 minute session we do every week from Kindergarten to Year 6 and Ms Saunderson makes sure that the church is lovely and warm. For many of our students attending church is an unfamiliar situation, so Ms Saunderson has been using our time in the church to encourage “I wonder….” questions about the many symbols and items they are sitting amongst. Today we learned about the hymn numbers and the light that is always on in the church, except on Good Friday. It is wonderful to see students becoming comfortable in this sacred space, particularly our oldest students who are excellent role models, particularly this morning. If you are wanting any further information about our faith please feel free to talk with class teachers, Ms Saunderson, our Religious Education Coordinator, or myself. We are more than happy to answer any of your questions regarding rituals, prayers, and also sacraments.
We are eagerly waiting for news about the Archdiocesan Cross Country Carnival currently underway in Canberra where Year 4 student Elizabeth Sullivan is competing. We wish EJ a strong performance in her 2km event and look forward to hearing her results.
In the classrooms we are looking forward to Matt Sexton’s visit this Thursday and Friday. Matt is a Numeracy consultant who provides professional support in delivering ‘best practise’ lessons particularly from K-4. Having the consultants come to us is a big bonus for St Mary’s because we see lessons in action.
If you see Matt walking around our school please say hello and make him feel welcome.
On a final note information went home today regarding the Excursion for Year 2/3/4’s overnight excursion to Borambola in November and an optional Ski Trip planned for next term. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Have a lovely week everyone.
Jannine
This weekend is one of the most prolific feasts in the Catholic Church calendar. Pentecost Sunday marks 50 days since Jesus rose on Easter Sunday. The colour red is traditionally worn to Mass services.
Ms Saunderson and Ms Buckmaster were at a Challenging Learning Day in Cootamundra on Monday. Here they are, hard at work, collaborating with other teachers in our region on the best teaching practices to support student engagement.
