Hello Everyone,
Our NAPLAN Tests continue into this week as we were affected by the widespread disruptions across the state last Tuesday and Wednesday. I must congratulate our Year 3 and 5 students for their resilience and understanding in the circumstances.
I attended Western Region Cross Country in Harden last week and it was a joy to see our 13 students eagerly participating and excited to be involved in such a big event. Congratulations to EJ Sullivan who has made it into the Western Region team and will compete in Canberra in a fortnight.
This Thursday, is our Athletics Carnival at the Batlow Showground. We have been looking forward to it for some time and anticipate a great day. Please come along and join us. We have completed several events already here at school e.g. shot put and long jump. If parents are able to help with time keeping on the day please let me know tomorrow.
This Friday, our students visit the Life Education Van to begin their unit in Personal Development and Health for this term. The cost of the Life Education program is covered by school fees and includes the program and a booklet. A flyer went home last week regarding additional purchases of Life Education merchandise, which is optional.
Have a lovely week everyone,
Jannine

Year K/1 Boggy Creek Excursion
On Thursday, K/1 had a wonderful day out on our excursion. We started with a visit to Boggy Creek where we watched a show that involved lots of animals and tricks. We had big laughs watching some of our classmates volunteering in the show. This was a great experience as it related to our Science unit 'School Yard Safari' where we are looking at living things and their features. There were plenty of animals for us to get up close to and also learn about the history of these animals in Australia.
We then had lunch at the Tumbarumba park and enjoyed a play on the equipment before hopping back on the bus. On the way home, we stopped at the Sugar Pine Walk and enjoyed quietly walking through the forest looking out for living things that we can research in Science this week. We also spent some time practicing our team building skills by working together to build a tee pee in the forest.
It was a lovely day with many laughs and plenty of adventure.
Our annual Athletics Carnival is scheduled for tomorrow and is being held at the Batlow Showground. St Joseph’s Adelong will be combining with us for this event. As usual the athletic carnival is a highlight of the sporting calendar as it is a chance to test our speed and strength at track and field. The Western Region Carnival is scheduled for 28th June 2019.
This year students are asked to assemble at school by 9.00am and we will then walk to the showground. Events will be underway by 10:00am. All events will conclude by 2:00pm and students will then walk back to school, except for K/1 who will return to school at 12 noon.
Students will need to come dressed in their sports uniform and ensure they have a school hat, sunscreen, water, recess and lunch if not previously ordered.
A canteen will operate on the day for recess purchases, but lunch orders have now closed.
Lunch orders will be taken to school for K/1 students who have ordered lunch.
Parents are needed to help on the day with setting up, timekeeping, marshalling, canteen and pack up. Please let us know if you are available.
