Sacrament of Confirmation
Congratulations to Theo and Mackenzie, who will be participating in the Sacrament of Confirmation at Tumut Parish this Sunday at 10:00am. We are very proud of their commitment throughout their preparation and wish them, their families, and the other candidates a joyful and faith-filled experience as they celebrate this special occasion together.
Book Week Parade
We warmly invite parents, carers, and younger siblings to join us for our Book Week Parade under the weather shed at 9:00am. This year’s theme, “Book an Adventure,” is a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate stories, imagination, and creativity through their costumes. Students will visit Batlow MPS to showcase their outfits to the residents. A special thank you to Mrs Murray for her effort and contribution in preparing for this much-loved day in our school calendar.
Welcome Mrs Oberholzer
Next week we look forward to welcoming Mrs Oberholzer to our school community. She will be with us for the remainder of the term, taking on Mrs Murray’s role in the Library and in our learning spaces. We are excited to have her on board and know she will be a wonderful addition to our staff team.
Thank you to Mrs Dumbrell
We thank Mrs Dumbrell for sharing with our Community Council at Monday night’s meeting about her pilgrimage to Italy and Vatican City during the Term Two break. It was wonderful to hear about the profound impact this experience has had on her. Earlier this term, Mrs Dumbrell also shared her reflection with the other Religious Education Coordinators in the Canberra-Goulburn Archdiocese. She is very happy to share her experience further with anyone who may be interested.
Enjoy the remainder of the week!
Ryan
While in Sienna we visited the home of St Catherine of Sienna. St Catherine was born in Sienna during the time of plague in 1347. She was one of 25 children. She was devoted to her family and never married, instead choosing to devote her time to her family and the poor and sick. She often visited hospitals and homes where the poor and sick were found. Her activities quickly attracted followers who helped her in her mission to serve the poor and sick. From 1375 onwards, St. Catherine began dictating letters to scribes. She petitioned for peace and was instrumental in persuading the Pope in Avignon to return to Rome. She became involved in the fractured politics of her time, but was instrumental in restoring the Papacy to Rome and in brokering peace deals during a time of factional conflict and war between the Italian city-states.
She also established a monastery for women in 1377 outside of Siena. She is credited with composing over 400 letters, her Dialogue, which is her definitive work, and her prayers. These works are so influential that St. Catherine would later be declared a Doctor of the Church. She is one of the most influential and popular saints in the Church.
This Sunday, Theo and MacKenzie will be celebrating their Confirmation along with Mr Forsyth’s son, Charlie and other boys and girls from the Tumut Parish. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them well for Sunday and ask you all to offer your thoughts and prayers for Theo, MacKenzie and Charlie.
Have a wonderful weekend
