Friday, August 15th, the Church celebrates the Feast Day of the Assumption of Our Lady, when, according to our faith, the Holy Mother, “having completed her course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory”.
The Assumption signals the end of Mary’s earthly life and marks her return to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. While the bodies of both Jesus and Mary are now in heaven, there is a difference between the Assumption and the Resurrection. Where Jesus arose from the tomb and ascended into heaven by his own power, Mary’s body was taken up to heaven by the power of her Son.
In our school Mass today, we celebrated the Assumption of our Mother Mary, whom our school is named after. I would like to offer the Hail Mary as our prayer for this week.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen
CHILD SAFE GUARDIAN COMMITMENT
Child Safeguarding Commitment
The Catholic Education Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn is committed to providing a safe environment for all children in our care. This has driven the policies and procedures that are in place in all of our schools to ensure a safe and positive experience for all in our care. The well-being of all of our children is our primary concern.
‘Safeguarding means living safely, free from abuse or neglect. It means people’s choices are heard and respected. Safeguarding is everybody’s business. We need to be aware of safeguarding adults and take action to make sure that nobody experiences abuse or neglect, particularly those who are vulnerable.’
