We had a wonderful celebration today at our school Mass. Scarlett, Maddison, Mackenzie, Lacey and Poppy all celebrated receiving Sacraments. I would like to thank all of the families for joining in this celebration, and also Father Joe for making this such a special Mass for all of these girls.
Last Friday morning we awoke to the news that the white smoke had risen out of the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, signalling that the Cardinals had voted and that a new Pope had been chosen. We are delighted to acknowledge the appointment of Pope Leo XIV to lead our Church.
When Pope Leo XIV appeared on the balcony, his first words, "Peace be with you," echoed the greeting of the Risen Lord. It is a reminder that the Pope's primary mission, like St. Peter and his successors, is to proclaim the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. His smile and serene presence have already touched hearts, offering the world a message of hope and renewal. The American-born Pope Leo XIV's motto, as a bishop, "In the One, one", beautifully reflects his call to unify. From the people of Rome to his Peruvian diocese and beyond, his opening address spoke of peace, walking together, and God's unfailing mercy and love. His focus on unity and his commitment to the themes of synodality show a desire to bring collective harmony to a diverse, global Church.
I would like to conclude with a prayer for our new Pope.
Prayer for the Pope
Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your shepherd a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he, as successor to the Apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ, build your Church into a sacrament of unity, love and peace for all the world. Amen.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend
