Pioneers Night 2024
Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to attend Pioneers Night. This was a unique and enjoyable experience that gave me further insight into Batlow’s rich history. I wanted to make mention of Leah Hamilton, who shared the story of her grandfather Len as part of the evening. It was an entertaining listen and a great acknowledgement of the legacy Len has left his family and Batlow. Congratulations Leah.
Tell Them From Me Survey
As previously mentioned The ‘Tell Them From Me’ survey, which confidentially surveys students, staff and parents of schools in the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese, was completed last term. There was lots of beneficial information to come from the survey. Our St Mary’s surveys showed that children and their parents feel that we offer a safe environment for our students. Parents feel welcome and communication with families is positive however, they are seeking more opportunities to engage in their child’s learning. We hope that an initial response to this desire was evident in the student learning journey visits. Teachers feel as though they have an inclusive school and are very keen to understand the needs of their students. We look forward to using this survey to enhance the school's vision.
Mass and Working Bee
While I feel as though this has been mentioned several times in the past few weeks, I want to continue to encourage families to make the time for our Children’s Mass and the Working Bee this Sunday. I completely understand that families have various commitments over the weekend and that this can be a challenge to organise but if you are able to make it, we look forward to seeing you there!
2025 Kindergarten
Tomorrow, we once again welcome our 2025 Kinder students. While many families have made the commitment of where they will send their children for 2025, we also know that some families may still be undecided. I believe our children and families are our best advocates for our school and encourage families to continue promoting St Mary’s.
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend - I look forward to seeing families on Sunday,
Ryan
Thank you to all our parents and carers who attended our K/1/2 Mass last Friday. The students were very excited to be running their first Mass and they did such an amazing job! The Mass was a special one as it was All Saints Day which is a Holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church.
This weekend, we have our Parish and Children's Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate this Mass with us. Afterwards, we will host a barbeque breakfast and a working bee; everyone is welcome to stay to participate.
As summer approaches and the days warm up we are thankful for the sunshine.
Have a wonderful week!
Jeanette

Our Book Fair was a huge success. Thank you very much to all the families who supported the Fair and purchased a range of books, posters and stationery items. We sold over $1200.00 worth of products and the school received a commission of the sales to purchase new books for the Library.
Thank you to the Haverfield family for the generous donation of new books from the Fair. Ollie selected a range of texts that the students will enjoy borrowing in Library lessons - they are covered and ready for borrowing this week!
Just a reminder that students have library every week. Years 3 to 6 borrow on Wednesday and Kindergarten to Year 2 are asked to bring their Library (and Homework) bags in on Thursday to return books, and borrow new titles during their Library lesson on Friday.
Enjoy reading with your child!
