Pupil Free Day
A reminder to all families that our students finish on Thursday 4th July this term. On Friday staff have a professional development day to assist with the implementation of future focuses for St Mary’s.
Western Region Athletics
Congratulations to all of our students that participated in our Western Region Athletics Carnival at Temora last Friday. We had some very busy students with multiple events and plenty that participated early and stuck around to support their peers. Well done to our Small Schools Relay team that came third. Thank you to Mrs Dumbrell and Jack for their assistance coordinating and running events and to our families for supporting our students.
Attendance
As I have flagged in recent weeks, we have been ensuring that our attendance and roll marking procedures are accurate and efficient. If families receive some information regarding an unexplained absence could they follow this up through Compass or get back to myself or the school office if they feel there is a discrepancy.
Families may also receive an update on their child’s attendance towards the end of term if it is below a certain level - in many instances, families are being considerate and acting responsibly by keeping students home (and this is often the main reason for lower attendance) so please understand that this is simply to ensure we are copliant in this space.
Please see below what Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn identifies regarding levels of attendance:
Kindergarten Enrolments
It has been so great to visit the preschool several times to make connections with our future St Mary’s students. You may have also noticed the Facebook posts and the recent newspaper article (starring Lizzy, Maddie, Phillip, Theo, Kenzie and Hayley!). It is that time of year where we are planning for 2025 and encouraging families to enrol at our great school.
The publicity and use of socials is great but our best advocates are our parents and our kids. If you know of any possible enrolments or families seeking a school for their children, please let them know about our school, our Parent Information Evening on Monday 29th July and Open Day on Wednesday 31st July, I am more than happy to meet with families, show them around the school and welcome them to our school community.
Wood Raffle
Don’t forget that our Year Five and Six students will be selling raffle tickets (for a trailer full of wood) with the School Community Council outside the IGA this Friday 28th July. We hope to see you there at some stage tomorrow!
Enjoy the weekend,
Ryan
On Saturday we celebrate the feast day of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.
St Peter and St Paul were extraordinary men and role models in the early Christian Church. As leaders in the early Christian community, they were instrumental in shaping the identity of the Christian Church so it was firmly founded on Jesus’ teachings and his ways of doing things.
Peter, who was named Simon, was a fisherman of Galilee and was introduced to the Lord Jesus by his brother Andrew, also a fisherman. Jesus gave him the name Cephas (Petrus in Latin), which means ‘Rock,’ because he was to become the rock upon which Christ would build His Church. St. Paul was the Apostle of the Gentiles. His letters are included in the writings of the New Testament, and through them we learn much about his life and the faith of the early Church.
I would like to close with a prayer to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
