Good afternoon Parents,
Staffing
This week we farewell Amy for the remainder of the year. I’d like to acknowledge her level of commitment to the faith and learning of our students in her time at St Mary’s. I am very appreciative of the support she has provided me in my first year at St Mary’s and would like to wish her a restful break and successful time up north! We will farewell Amy as a school community at our weekly assembly on Friday afternoon. Our families are most welcome to come and celebrate this special assembly with our staff and students.
We also officially welcome Mrs Jeanette Dumbrell to our school community on Monday 3rd June. We are extremely fortunate to have Jeanette - she has an understanding of our context, having taught here before, she has experience in leadership, will bring ideas from another setting and is really excited about commencing here at St Mary’s.
School Community Council - Open Meeting
I am very appreciative of the great work our school community council team has done this year. They have assisted in coordinating and fundraising at our Western Region Athletics Carnival, purchased a new shade sail (it looks terrific and we look forward to getting it out again at our Athletics Carnival!), they have made a significant contribution to the purchase of our new school sign and starting to plan for our annual trivia night and the possibility of a working bee in the coming months.
Being connected to your child’s school is a rewarding opportunity and we would like to welcome any parents and carers to our next meeting on Wednesday 19th June at 5.30pm as it is an open meeting. This option of attendance can simply be to see how our meetings run or to have some input in the decisions being made around the school.
K -2 Excursion
Our K-2 class thoroughly enjoyed their excursion to Canberra last Friday and it was great to have Maddie and Mack share this experience with our school at our morning assembly this week. Thank you to Miss Buckmaster and Mrs Brown for the time and effort that went into organising this event, along with the extra hours of work on the actual day.
School Sign
Our new school sign has been constructed and displayed in the northern corner of the school. We are very pleased with the finished product and look forward to having the electricity connected and sharing our upcoming events and achievements with our wider community.
School Athletics Carnival
Our school Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday 12th June (Week 7). Information for this event will go home to parents (via Compass) early next week. For any parents able to assist or just wanting to come and support our students on the day, we would love to see you at Memorial Park. The Western Region Carnival (for those students that make it away) will be held on Friday 21st June (Week 8).
