Catholic Schools Week
Today, our school joined together to acknowledge the great things happening within the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese through Catholic Schools Week. We welcomed Father Rofin to St Mary’s, who led us at our Assumption Mass with Father Joseph. A special thanks to Miss Buckmaster who prepared the Mass and Mrs Jackson and our Stage Two students who presented Mass.
It was wonderful to have both Father Joe and Father Rofin hang around afterwards for lunch and enjoy some time outside with the staff and students. We then moved inside to complete a Catholic Schools Week Kahoot, a Catholic identity scavenger hunt and got to see the video that we created - check out our Facebook page to see the finished product!
Sporting School Funding - Tennis
Tomorrow we welcome Birdie Cahill to St Mary’s as students commence our Sporting Schools Tennis Program. Students are to wear sports uniforms and no racquet is required.
Staff Professional Learning
Yesterday our staff ventured outdoors for their staff meeting to learn a little bit more about the Snowy Valleys Nature Wellness Drive and the ways that we could incorporate this into student learning. We were joined by Jennifer and Jacinta from Murrumbidgee Local Health District, who shared a wealth of knowledge about the positive mental, physical and social health benefits that come from a connection with nature. This was a great ‘reset’ for our staff but also something we wanted to share with our families. Please keep an eye out for information on this wellness drive, which stretches across a number of different bushfire impacted regions (from Adelong, all the way up to Khancoban). We will share this information via Compass and Facebook.
Yr 6 Retreat
Yesterday, Jack visited McAuley Catholic College, as part of a Year Six Journey with Jesus Retreat for feeder schools within the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese. This was an experience led predominantly by the McAuley students and looked at faith, and leadership. This is a very positive experience that our Year Five students can look forward to in 2025. We look forward to Jack sharing his experience with his peers as he continues to grow as a leader within our school community.
Enjoy the rest of your week and don’t forget to check out the Nature Drive in the coming weeks!

Mass
Today Year 3/4 lead St Mary’s and community members beautifully in Mass. 3/4 presented with confidence and reverence, showing exemplary role modelling to our younger students. Thank you to our families who were able to be with us.
May
The month of May is a special time for Catholics to honour the Blessed Mother Mary - our St Mary’s school patron saint.
In May we celebrate Mary, our Mother, and just as importantly we also celebrate the wonderful mothers in our lives on Mother’s Day.
I hope all of our St Mary’s mothers, grandmothers, aunties and honorary mothers have a very special day this Sunday.
May your day be filled with peace, love and joy whilst you are surrounded by loved ones.
