Hello,
Last week staff and students enjoyed a visit from Matt Sexton, a numeracy consultant who is now working with Leonie Anstey's team, Elevating Learning. Matt worked with teachers before and after a teaching demonstration lesson with Year 2/3/4. We are certainly lucky to have quality professional development that comes to Batlow. Teachers will now put their learning into their classroom practice and staff conversations will continue. The students impressed us and Matt. Well done Year 2/3/4!
I hope that many parents and friends were able to enter the pavillion at the Batlow Show last Saturday and see St Mary's wonderful, vibrant and creative work. Thank you also to Ying and Clarissa for helping staff cover the back gate on Saturday. It was an opportunity to connect with many community members as they came through the gate.
This week remains busy as we:
- Practice for Online NAPLAN to ensure we have the capability to run the tests in May. Student work will not be marked.
- School Photos will be conducted this Wednesday.
- Our combined Athletics Carnival with St Joseph's Adelong has been postponed, as the Showground has been damaged from the horse events at the Show and recent rain. The carnival will now be held in Week 2 Term 2.

At the entry of the school a basket of fruit is provided for students who may wish to have a lovely piece of fruit for crunch n sip or morning tea if they have forgotten to bring something from home or would like an extra piece to eat.
Our supply is running low and we are asking if any families would like to donate some fruit to assist us with continuing to provide this at school.
We wish William and Daniel the best of luck as they swim at Homebush tomorrow in the NSW Catholic Primary School championships for the MacKillop team representing Canberra Goulburn. Best of luck boys!

Our annual Athletics Carnival that was scheduled for this Thursday 28th March has been postponed as the grounds were damaged by the equestrian events at the show and recent rain. The carnival will now be held Wednesday 8th May - Week 2 Term 2. The Western Region Carnival is scheduled for 21st June 2019 in Cootamundra.
Any lunch orders taken will be held at school for the carnival in Term 2.
Community Council a voluntary committee meet about twice per term with the principal to help ensure the smooth running of the school
and fundraise for improvements and goods needed.
Each year we hold a trivia night which is our major fundraiser for the year.
We also have raffles during the year and sell at the RSL auditorium.
"Winter Warmers" our special lunch days once per week will begin again next term.
From our fundraising over the past year some of the things we have been able to purchase are:
Reverse cycle air con to cool off the weather shed area in the summer and make it warm for eating & playing during the winter time.
Put new whiteboards up in the classrooms.
Buy additional seating for outdoors.
Purchase more robotic sets.
Begin updating shelving & storage in the library.
From time to time we call upon families to support this fundraising so we can all work together to ensure the students and school have what is needed.
