Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the best term of the year! Students should be in summer uniform and have their hat every day. No Hat, Play in the shade is our school rule to keep our students safe in the sun. Please assist your child by labelling all hats and jumpers with students names.
Celebrations
Our term starts with our major celebrations recognising 100 years of Catholic Education in Batlow. At this stage we have taken many bookings for the luncheon at the Batlow RSL Club but it is not too late to secure your tickets. Please use the QR Code below or contact us in the office as soon as possible. Some families may like to come along to the open classrooms on Sunday 22 October morning to take a look at some memorabilia. On Monday 23 October, we celebrate with Mass starting at 10am with a re enactment of the three nuns arriving on horse and cart in 1923. It will be quite a sight. After Mass we will be having a special morning tea with students, parents and special guests from Catholic Education. We hope that many parents and friends are able to make it and fill our little church to the brim. Following that we will have a Commemorative Tree planting ceremony near our flag poles. We are hoping that parents may be able to support our morning tea by sending in a cake, slice, biscuits or fruit for our morning tea.
Attendance
I always start every term with a message about attendance. After many student illnesses last term our data gives us cause for concern. I urge parents to be diligent in this area and attend to explaining the reason for your child's absence as soon as possible. If a student has a low rate of attendance it is appropriate that we request a medical certificate, especially if consecutive days are missed.
Avoid being casual about student attendance e.g. we had a busy weekend, we slept in, we had to go shopping in Wagga for a haircut or shoes. As educators we understand this very occasionally, but if it becomes a regular reason for not being at school then it is not ok. We hope parents will take this seriously as attendance is a legislated requirement by the NSW government. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Have a lovely week everyone!
