The 4/5/6 excursion is fast approaching.

ST MARY’S FEAST DAY will be celebrated on Thursday 13th September.
Year 2/3 Liturgy at 12pm, followed by lunch and some special Feast Day activities.
We look forward to celebrating this special day. ALL WELCOME

The Woodland family is asked to cook the cake for the cake raffle this Friday 7th September.
Enjoy the break from formal homework and enjoy playing Literacy and Numeracy games eg Monopoly, Scrabble, Cludo etc.
Lucy & Jiemin will be presenting our school news on “Sounds of the Mountains” FM 96.3 next Tuesday 11th September @ 1.45pm.
Birthday wishes this week go to William who turned 11 yesterday the 3rd September. Also Brendan who turns 10 Thursday 6th September.
Catholic School's Week - Week 9
Monday - Open classrooms - parents are welcome to come in and view students working as normal between 9:30-11am. Parents may stay for 10 minutes or longer.
Tuesday - Yr 6 leaders to represent St Mary's in Cootamundra at the WR Catholic School's Week Mass.
Wednesday- Art Space fence decoration.... to be confirmed.
Thursday- Fiver for a Farmer -Students may come dressed as a farmer (families asked to donate $5 to the relief fund)
Crunch n Sip- students to share their fruit and veg for their class platter (September is Fruit and Veg Month)
Liturgy at 12:30 (outside - weather permitting).
Lunch time-after students have eaten lunch have a dance session on the oval e.g. Boot scootin, and a song to 'floss' to as a school. We can play music through the loud speaker and spread out on the grass. Simple and Fun.....
Friday- At our mini assembly after lunch we focus on our 5 students who are about to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday 23 September.
A lovely week celebrating our journey in faith together with family and supporting community.
Catholic Education Week 2018: Discovering New Horizons The theme has been aligned with the official Year of Youth theme for 2018 and is derived from a speech given by Pope Francis at World Youth Day 2016 where he called young people and the Church to ‘open new horizons for spreading joy’.

Year 3 and 5 completed the NAPLAN online readiness assessment today to prepare for the move from pen and paper. The readiness test is an assessment of a school’s technical readiness to administer NAPLAN Online. It is an opportunity for schools to become familiar with the NAPLAN Online test platform and to identify any technical issues the school may have. The readiness test is an opportunity to experience the online environment and the different question types that can be used in online testing. It is not a test of skills and knowledge.
The Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner has extended an invitation for St Mary’s choir to attend and participate at the Batlow Fire Station Opening located at 32 Mill Road Batlow on Monday 17th September 2018 at 3.30pm (after school). St Mary’s would participate by singing the National Anthem at the beginning of the ceremony and provide a closing song or musical item at the end of the ceremony. If you would like your child to participate, please return this slip by Monday 10th September. There will be light refreshments after the ceremony. The Commissioner also extends this invitation to the family of the participants.

The police will be visiting our K/1 students next week to introduce themselves to our students and familiarise them with the role of police in our town.
Senior Constable Aimee Zwickle is looking forward to meeting our K/1 students, talking to them about her role and showing them her police vehicle. The students will bring home a little work booklet.
Please keep in your prayers, Emily, EJ, Ted, Sarah and Sophie as they prepare for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday 23rd September.
Fr Michael Mullen will be here to celebrate the Mass. With Fr Sijo’s departure this week, liturgy will be held for the next two Sundays at 8.30am and Mass on the fourth weekend to celebrate First Holy Communion.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mass with our students.
Congratulations to Daniel, Thomas, Jasmine, EJ and James who have also completed the 2018 PRC challenge. All up, 11 students from St Mary’s completed the PRC and will receive certificates signed by the Premier of NSW Gladys Berejiklian next term.
Next Wednesday the 12th September, 2019 Kindergarten children will visit St Mary’s. If you know anyone interested in enrolling their child for Kindergarten next year or anyone who would like to have a look at our school, please let them know about this upcoming date.
Students DO NOT have to wear school hats for the rest of this term.
Please remember that hats are compulsory from Term 4 on. NO HAT - NO PLAY

Welcome Afternoon Tea for Miss Soulsby
All K/1 parents are invited to afternoon tea on Tuesday 11th Sept from 3:15pm onwards to meet Miss Jessica Soulsby our new K/1 teacher. This will also be an opportunity to meet Mrs Yolandi Oberholzer who is providing K/1 release.
School banking is up and running again.
Send in you bank books on Mondays for some great rewards. Call the school for more information if you would like to start.

A huge thank you to the organisers Clare Pearce, Tracee Holland and Kerrie Ambrose. Special thanks to MC Don Fisher, markers Robert & Vicki Pearce, Richard Breward for organising the sound and the Minogue family for supplying the wood for the raffle.
Those families who helped setup and pack up, who booked tables, manned the door, donated items, supplied supper and sold raffle tickets for a very successful Trivia Night. An amazing $4,440 was raised. The raffle winners were:

Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you, thank you, thank you to our wonderful Community Council for a highly successful Trivia Evening on Saturday night. Special thanks to the organising committee, especially Clare Pearce for the mammoth task of writing the questions, as well as Kerrie Ambrose and Tracee Holland for the organisation behind the evening. Many thanks for all the support from our wonderful community and local businesses. We were overwhelmed with donations of great prizes towards the evening. Special thanks to our awesome compere Mr Don Fisher and Richard Breward. Also a big thank you to our school families who supported the evening with donations to our hamper, selling raffle tickets, donating supper items and to those who attended the evening. It was our most successful Trivia Night to date.
A very exciting week coming up for our Year 4/5/6 class! Only one sleep left before they head off to our Nation’s Capital for a wonderful three-day excursion. Mrs Richards and Mrs Murray will accompany the students. We wish them a wonderful time!
Please ensure lunch orders for our School Feast Day which we will celebrate next Thursday, are in by this Friday.
