Hello Everyone,
It's a busy week for the students and staff as we cover important school obligations and special events.
- Firstly, NAPLAN is now underway for Year 3 and Year 5 students: This is an important test for the students and we wish them well. It assesses their literacy and numeracy skills and provides feedback to the school, parents, and students on their academic progress.
Harmony Day Tuesday 21: This is a great opportunity for the school community to celebrate the diversity of cultures and promote respect for all. It is a chance for the students to learn about different cultures and to appreciate the richness of our society. Students are invited to wear orange on this day, the colour symbol for Harmony Day.
School photographs Thursday 23 March: The School Photographer is with us again this year creating an important keepsake for the students and their families to remember their time at the school. Please return the School Photographer envelopes by Thursday indicating your preference of payment. Please note that there is no obligation for parents to purchase photos, but all students do have their photo taken and need to return envelopes.
Cross Country Friday 24 March: This is a fun event for the students to participate in. It promotes fitness and healthy competition among the students. It is also a chance for the students to demonstrate their sportsmanship. Students will be competing in their House groups-Hume(Red) or Hovell (Green) for the House Trophy!
I hope all the events go smoothly and the students have a great time.
Have a lovely week everyone!

Each year in Term 1, St Mary’s and many other Catholic schools fundraise for those less fortunate than us. Our focus in Term 1 is for Project Compassion. Year 6 leaders and I are currently working together to collate ideas and choose a way we would like to fundraise for Project Compassion this term. We will announce details of our Week 9 fundraiser next week.
St Patrick’s Day
The luck of the Irish is with us this week as we celebrate St Patrick’s Feast Day tomorrow, Friday 17th of March.
Our sister school, St Patrick’s in Gundagai, celebrates their patron saint every year. If you are looking for something to do this weekend then you might enjoy a drive to Gundagai for their school fete in Carberry Park. K/1/2 from last year can attest to how fantastic the park is!
Wishing you many Irish blessings.

K/1/2 have been studying plants and have learnt that plants
need food and water to survive. We set up an investigation to
see celery take water up through its stem into the leaves.
Students were very excited to see how the water travelled up
the stem!

Years 5/6 have been learning about living things and we
have been concentrating on plants. The students did
marvellous work dissecting flowers and labelling each of
the parts to get a better understanding of how seeds are
made. A special mention to Nace who absolutely nailed
the explanation of pollination after listening intently to a video.
Term 1 fees are now due in full unless you are making regular installments
Our next meeting is on
Monday the 20th of March at 5:30pm
in the staffroom
Our focus will be our 100 year celebrations
ALL WELCOME TO ATTEND
In Week 9 parent teacher interviews will be held.
Please go on to Compass to book your preferred time.
