Dear Parents,
Our term is moving steadily along and learning and school routines are well embedded in each classrooms. I visit classrooms regularly and often stop in to do some teaching as well. I am very proud of what I see teachers and students doing in each room. St Mary’s is a busy place and great learning is happening everyday.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
We look forward to four students making their First Reconciliation this coming Sunday. Please keep our candidates: Logan, Calee Bree, Jessica and Aiden in your prayers.
Public Speaking
Students in Year 3 to 6 are busy preparing and putting the final touches to their speeches. Public speaking can be daunting but a skill worth working towards. By promoting it each year it supports students confidence and ability to communicate an idea in a public forum for an extended period of time. Congratulations to all our students on ‘stepping up’. Next Tuesday, St Mary’s will host St Joseph’s Adelong in a Speak Off. The two best public speakers for each level will proceed to the Western Region Public Speaking, Friday 16 September.
Book Week
Next week is our Book Week Parade and the theme for 2022 is Dreaming with Eyes Open. Students are asked to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. This is a highlight of the school year for many students and always a great day of celebrating quality literature.

Sacrament of Reconciliation
On Sunday, 4 students from St Mary’s will complete the Sacrament of Reconciliation before our Children’s Mass.
It will be a special sacrament in the next step of their faith journey and will lead the way into their First Holy Communion sacrament next year.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, in which the faithful are absolved from sins committed after baptism and reconciled with the Christian community.
Logan, Calee-Bree, Aiden and Jessica have been preparing for this Sacrament with lessons about making good and poor choices and the consequences of these decisions as well as forgiving and being forgiven.
Father Namora will guide the children through this Sacrament before Mass and we send them blessings for the day.
Please know you are all most welcome to join us for Mass this Sunday, 28th of August at 8:30am in our St Mary’s Church.

This year, Pioneers Night is going ahead after two years of ‘interruptions’. However, it will be held on a Saturday evening instead. We are hoping once again to support this wonderful event with our school choir. Please note it in your calendars - Saturday 5 November at 6:30pm at the Batlow RSL Club. We will forward more details early in Term 4.

ROC Open Parachute programs have commenced in each of our classes. The wellbeing program adds to our PDH programs and will be delivered each fortnight. Here are Yr 5/6 involved in some trust building activities.
Year 3/4 got to know the leader Tasmin, and some activites involving communicating with each other.
In Year 3/4 Maths students have been creating graphs of how many medals Australia won in each sport at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
