Dear Parents,
Welcome back to Term 3! I hope the school break has been a warm and relaxing one! The students returned to school eager to catch up with classmates and teachers and share their holiday stories. They all look happy and refreshed.
COVID 19 Update
All parents were emailed yesterday regarding the new restrictions. I urge all parents to be aware of the restrictions outlined by NSW Health and especially the mandatory requirement to sign in using the QR Code if entering school grounds. Parents are not permitted to enter school grounds unless for your child’s health and wellbeing needs or an important meeting. Students arriving late or departing early must still be signed in at the front office using our Compass kiosk panel.
Uniform Vouchers courtesy of FRRR
Through the generosity of the Foundation for Rural Recovery and Renewal, every student in the school has been provided with a $50 voucher to be used in our school uniform shop. These were distributed to students today. Please keep your voucher in a safe place and we will also keep a record of vouchers used here at school as well. Tracee Holland works Thursdays and Fridays and can assist you in our new uniform shop, now located back in the Top Room. As parents are restricted from entering the school please email Tracee tracee.holland@cg.catholic.edu.au for further information or to put in a request.
Western Region Athletics Carnival
Due to Covid 19 restrictions the Western Region Athletics Carnival has been postponed. We will advise parents of the new date as soon as it is confirmed.
Have a lovely week everyone.

Welcome back to another term full of fun and learning. I hope you enjoyed the break with your family and that you all feel rested and rejuvenated!
Anti-bullying
At St Mary’s we believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, valued and respected. Your children are precious to us and we want to make sure that everyone comes to school to learn and be their best.
Bullying can take many forms including:
Over the next few weeks we will be looking at anti-bullying strategies students can use if they feel that they are being targeted by others. It is a great reminder to talk about these with your child in case they find themselves in a situation where they need to use them.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION'S ATTENDANCE POLICY
Catholic Education’s Attendance Policy
Parents’ responsibilities
2.4 Parents/carers must ensure children of mandatory school age are enrolled in school or an approved alternative education program, or in approved employment.
2.5 Parents/carers must ensure that enrolled students attend every day of school, and every activity or event the school requires the student to attend, during the required times. This is known as the ‘full-time participation’ requirement.
2.6 Parents/carers must provide an explanation to the school for any absence, ideally on or before the day of absence, and no more than five school days after the absence occurs. Parents/carers may be liable under the ACT or NSW Education Acts if students fail to attend school without a reasonable excuse.
2.7 Parents/carers must notify the school of planned absences of up to 25 school days in a 12- month period (including 25 part days) in writing, including the reason for the absence.
2.8 Planned absences of more than 25 days in a 12-month period, other than sick leave, have additional requirements and parents/carers must apply in advance for extended leave or exemption (see sections 8-10 of this document). The application and approval process complies with strict requirements of the NSW and ACT governments. CECG recommends, and the NSW Department of Education expects, that students granted extended leave of more than 100 days 1 Section 22 NSW Education Act 1990; section 10 ACT Education Act 2004 ATTENDANCE POLICY Page 5 of 17 in a twelve-month period be unenrolled from school and enrolled in home or distance education.
2.9 Parents/carers should understand that schools are required to record any absence as an unapproved or unjustified absence, unless they receive and accept a reasonable explanation before the attendance register is finalised.
