Hello Everyone,
We have been graced by beautiful weather over the past week and that has allowed us to really enjoy our athletic events. Every student participated keenly in their track and field events and also cheered on their friends with equal enthusiasm. Our school spirit was extremely warm and positive and we can all be very proud of our students, your children. Thanks also to Lydia Smith and Phil Quarmby for your assistance and for all other parents and grandparents who joined us. Age champions and the House trophy will be presented in our mini assembly this Friday. Students who have qualified to represent at the Western Region level will be notified shortly. The Western Region Athletics Carnival will be held in Tumut, Friday 11 June.
Tell Them From Me Survey
Each year our system, Canberra Goulburn Catholic Education, conduct a survey to gather important information to guide future planning. This year the survey process is being conducted by The Learning Bar organisation. The parent survey measures parent perceptions on how well our school fosters a positive relationship between school and the community and captures parents’ perceptions of children’s experiences at home and school. I encourage all parents to set aside a little time to complete the survey over the next few weeks. A link to the survey has been added into todays Newsletter. The survey window is open from Monday 24 May to Friday 11 June.
Semester 1 Reports
Our teachers have begun the process of creating each child’s semester report.
For Kindergarten students:
- Achievement in each subject will be reported using a four-point scale (Well Above Expectations, Above Expectations, Meeting Expectations and Working Towards Expectations).
For Year 1 to Year 6 students:
- Academic grades for each subject using a five-point scale from A-E will be reported using the NSW Common Grade Scale.
Individual student comments will not be used in the Semester 1 Reports.
Dialogue is an important feature of reporting. The Semester Report in this format encourages parent engagement and conversation about student learning. We want the report to be the entry point for parent-teacher interviews where we can engage in genuine conversation about your child’s strengths, challenges, effort and areas for growth.
Parent Teacher Interviews
You are encouraged to book a time for your parent teacher interview on your preferred day, Wednesday 16 June or Thursday 17 June via our online booking link below. There will also be a separate email forwarded with the link for your convenience.

Have a lovely week everyone,
Jannine
Holy Father, God of Love,
You are the Creator of all things.
We acknowledge the pain and shame of our history
and the sufferings of Our peoples,
and we ask your forgiveness.
We thank you for the survival of Indigenous cultures
Our hope is in you because you gave your Son Jesus
to reconcile the world to you.
We pray for your strength and grace to forgive, accept and love one another, as you love us and forgive and accept us in the sacrifice of your Son.
Give us the courage to accept the realities of our history so that we may build a better
future for our Nation.
Teach us to respect all cultures.
Teach us to care for our land and waters.
Help us to share justly the resources of this land. Help us to bring about spiritual and social change to improve the quality of life for all groups in our communities, especially the disadvantaged.
Help young people to find true dignity and self-esteem by your Spirit.
May your power and love be the foundations on which we build our families, our communities and our Nation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
(Wontulp Bi-Buya Indigenous Theology Working Group 13 March 1997 Brisbane, Qld).
Thank you to Faye Gluhak and the M.H.D.C Friendship Group from Mawson ACT who hand made the Rosary Beads and dontated them to the school for the students to use in the month of May.
2021 TELL THEM FROM ME PARENT SURVEY
Dear Parents,
Please follow the link below to access the parent survey Tell Them From Me. The survey will close Friday 11 June. Thank you in advance for your time and considered responses.
TELL THEM FROM ME STUDENT SURVEY
During the next 3 weeks, all students in Year 4 to Year 6 will be given the opportunity and time to participate in this survey during regular school hours. Students who agree to complete the survey will be given a random username and password to access and complete the survey online. Students’ names cannot be linked to their responses which allows it to be completely anonymous. Results will show all student scores combined together – it is not possible to single out individual students in the results.
The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. The survey measures include such topics as emotional and social well-being, physical health, and behaviours and attitudes linked to student success. The survey also allows students to give their thoughts and feedback in open-ended question responses.
Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary. Your child will not take part if either you or your child do not wish to. If, during the survey, your child is uncomfortable answering any question, he/she should leave it blank and move on to the next one. Your child can stop the survey at any time.
If you do not want your child to take part in the survey, please complete the attached form and return it to your child's school by Friday 28 May 2021.
